ȘTIRBEY PALACE
A space steeped in history and refinement, brought back to life through an extensive restoration process. Today, the Palace’s elegant salons house the Estate’s à la carte restaurant, offering a unique culinary experience in an exceptional historic setting.
Built from 1850 by Barbu Dimitrie Știrbey and completed by his son, Alexandru B. Știrbey, the Palace is an example of 19th-century Romantic architecture, with Gothic influences and a history deeply rooted in the identity of the place.
Here, history was truly made: the residence of the Știrbey family, a place of refuge for Queen Maria, and the scene of negotiations that changed Romania.
Today, the Palace gets a new life. Through an extensive restoration process, it is transforming into an unparalleled cultural and events hub, where the historic lounges and à la carte restaurant restore the prestige of an aristocratic heritage adapted to a contemporary vision.
HOLY TRINITY CHAPEL
The Știrbey family chapel is a unique monument in Romania.

The “Holy Trinity” Chapel, a Class A historical monument, was built at the end of the 19th century at the initiative of Alexandru Știrbey, as a tribute to his wife Maria. Located near the lake, at the end of Aleea cu Brazi (The Fir-tree Alley), the chapel was designed by the Austrian architect Theophil von Hansen and is a remarkable example of Romantic architecture, blending Neo-Romanian, Neo-Byzantine, and Neo-Gothic influences. Access is via a monumental staircase, and the structure impresses with its dome inspired by Byzantine architecture, its towers featuring classical details, and its balanced proportions. The place houses the tombs of ruler Barbu Dimitrie Știrbey and other family members.
Over time, the chapel has been not only a place of contemplation but also a landmark of cultural and aristocratic heritage. Queen Maria considered the chapel a place of peace and reflection, while Martha Bibescu used to come here to pray. The chapel still preserves the spirit of the era today, serving as a living testament to the noble past of the Știrbey Estate.
ANGHEL SALIGNY WATER TOWER
One of the oldest water towers in Romania, transformed into a unique architectural symbol.
The Water Tower can be found in the northeastern part of the park and was built in the 1920s, based on a design by engineer Anghel Saligny, to store the water needed for the Știrbey family estate and the adjacent factories (the Canning Factory, the Cotton Factory, and the Mill).
The tower features an architecture typical of the era, decorated with classical elements that transform a strictly utilitarian structure into a true architectural landmark with a sense of grandeur.
THE ȘTIRBEY PARK
Created in a Romantic style in the second half of the 19th century, the Știrbey Estate Park covers 24 hectares and preserves to this day the harmony between nature and aristocratic heritage. The centuries-old trees, some over five hundred years old, the historic paths where Queen Maria used to stroll, and the lake with its spectacular scenery transform this place into a unique landmark in Romania.
The first documented intervention on the park’s current grounds belongs to the great steward Barbu C. Ştirbey, who built a fountain here. Carefully shaped over time, the park has witnessed important historical moments, from the daily life of the Știrbey family to royal visits. The remarkable biodiversity complements the charm of the place and offers visitors an authentic experience in the heart of nature.
Today, the park is being carefully restored so that we can respectfully enjoy history in the present.
THE GATEHOUSE
The Gatehouse marks the entrance to the Știrbey Vodă Estate. Built in a traditional style with classical architectural influences, the building served as both an entrance and a guardhouse.
Its square tower, with exposed brick finishes, contrasts elegantly with the simple white of the entire structure. A distinct visual landmark that combines functionality with aristocratic symbolism.
